Bihar Mandai Weir Irrigation Project to be reviewed weekly

Patna, Dec 8 (UNI) With an aim to attain speedy growth and to expedite the implementation of Mandai Weir Irrigation Project, Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Monday directed the authorities concerned to complete the project by May 2026 so that farmers can get timely irrigation facilities.

Amrit who started a weekly review of the Project to ensure faster progress, asked the concerned department to immediately deploy assistant and junior engineers to the project site.
He also said that the district administration has already set up a camp at the location to speed up the work.

The Chief Secretary assured the contractors who joined the meeting through video conferencing and discussed the issues they are facing, to provide all necessary support, ensure land availability, and make sure that work at the site continues without any interruption.
As it is, the project is being constructed on the Falgu River near Mandai village in Modanganj block of Jehanabad district. It includes the construction of a weir on the river, right and left main canals, and a full distribution network for water supply.
Amrit said that the primary goal of the project is to provide timely irrigation to farmers during the Kharif season. After completion, it will benefit 3,759 hectares of agricultural land in three districts including 1,364 hectares in Nalanda (Ekangarsarai block), 2,076 hectares in Jehanabad (Modanganj block) and 319 hectares in Patna (Dhanarua block).
The review meeting will be held every Monday to ensure timely completion of the project, informed the Chief Secretary.
